Acuity Scheduling, founded in 2006, helps small businesses manage appointments online and via mobile apps. When customers needed a way to take in‑person payments, Acuity’s existing workflow required manually keying card numbers—slower, more error‑prone, and subject to higher processing fees—so price‑sensitive small businesses pressed for a better in‑app payment option.

Using the Square Reader SDK and React Native, a remote developer built and tested iOS and Android integrations in a matter of days to weeks, enabling swipe payments directly inside the Acuity app and securely syncing transaction IDs with users’ Square accounts. The integration gives merchants access to lower card‑present rates and has increased customer satisfaction as the rollout continues.
