How the University of North Dakota Optimizes Performance Using Sprout Social

The University of North Dakota (UND), the state’s oldest and largest university, needed a better way to tell its story and reach the right audiences online. After a rebrand and a new strategic plan under President Mark Kennedy and Social Media Manager Layne Pfliiger, UND moved from an ad-hoc approach to a coordinated social strategy to increase visibility and engagement.

UND adopted Sprout Social for analytics, publishing, monitoring and collaboration—using features like the Publishing Calendar, Smart Inbox, Feedly integration and Message Spike Alerts—to plan content, surface campus stories and respond quickly. In the year after implementing Sprout, UND saw a 15% increase in followers, 119.6% more impressions and 199.5% more engagements (about 41 million impressions, 309,000 engagements and 98,000 link clicks).
