Demandbase, a San Francisco–based leader in Account-Based Marketing, moved its ad-bidding systems to a microservices architecture on Kubernetes across four AWS regions and needed a Kubernetes-native way to manage highly dynamic, bursty workloads (up to ~3,000 nodes) without constant manual intervention. Having used Spot Elastigroup previously, Demandbase evaluated and adopted Spot’s Kubernetes service, Spot Ocean, to abstract infrastructure management while retaining control over underlying EC2 instances.

Spot Ocean automated worker node provisioning, pod-driven autoscaling, intelligent bin‑packing and pod right‑sizing, integrated with EKS for a managed control plane, and provided centralized, Kubernetes-native visibility and cost showback. With Spot, Demandbase reduced EC2 costs by 70%, eliminated manual cluster tuning and upgrades, sped cluster setup to minutes, improved resource utilization, and gained 24/7 support and dedicated engineering engagement.
