WakeMed Health & Hospitals, an 870‑bed system in Raleigh, N.C., needed to extend its centralized communications to clinicians on the move. Although WakeMed already used Spok for operator consoles, web-based on‑call scheduling, emergency notification, and speech recognition, staff required a secure, traceable mobile messaging solution to reach busy doctors regardless of location.
WakeMed deployed Spok Mobile to 1,000 smartphones, integrating traceable, highly secure messaging with its existing Spok infrastructure. The rollout improved immediate contact across device types, enhanced secure information sharing for clinicians, and supported safer, more responsive patient care.
