Vail Health is a nonprofit community health system in west-central Colorado with 12 locations, including a 56-bed hospital, cancer and sports medicine centers, and multiple clinics. Leaders faced fragmented, manual communications—paper on-call lists, Rolodexes, sticky notes and multiple disparate apps—that caused delays, inconsistent on-call information, training challenges, and a need for mobile, HIPAA-compliant notifications and emergency alerts.

Vail Health implemented the Spok Care Connect enterprise platform, integrating with their EHR to provide a single, mobile-accessible source for contact details, schedules, secure messaging, clinical alerts and mass notifications. Early results include a 50% reduction in time to reach hospitalists, switchboard accuracy rising from 97% to 99%, and new switchboard staff training cut from two weeks to three days; the health system is expanding use and partnering with Spok on future platform development.
