A Spok Case Study
Mesquite Independent School District, a large Texas K–12 system serving about 35,000 students across 48 campuses and more than 70 buildings, faced a critical safety challenge: many classroom phones were non‑DID on a PBX, so 9-1-1 calls routed only to a building address, not an exact room or floor. District leaders needed a flexible, future‑proof emergency communications solution that would pinpoint callers (including after hours) without converting classrooms to DID lines and increasing disruptions.
MISD selected Spok Enhanced 9‑1‑1, whose dynamic DID and ALI database automatically maps every classroom and extension to a precise location and transmits that information to the PSAP (which can also call back dropped lines). The implementation delivered instant, reliable location data for non‑DID lines, reduced manual intervention and operational cost, and gave district staff confidence that emergency responders can quickly find callers.
