A Spok Case Study
The Medical Center Health System (MCHS) in Odessa, Texas, is a 402‑bed Level III trauma center—the only full‑service hospital in the area—serving 17 counties with over 1,600 employees and about 100,000 patients annually. MCHS relied on Spok Care Connect for clinical communications but years of manual data entry produced outdated, inconsistent records that caused communication delays, errors, and an increased administrative burden when staff roles changed.
To address this, MCHS engaged Spok’s Data Integrity Service to identify gaps, bulk‑clean and validate the database. The project corrected over 33,000 records, removed roughly 3,000 obsolete records (about 9% of the database), and properly formatted more than 16,000 phone numbers (48% of the database) with minimal manual effort. The result was cleaner, more consistent data that sped clinical communications, reduced manual work, improved contact‑center workflows, and positioned MCHS for an automated HR feed and further Spok enhancements.
