Froedtert Hospital and The Medical College of Wisconsin, a 655‑bed Level 1 trauma teaching affiliate in Milwaukee, faced fragmented provider communications — multiple smartphones, pagers and Wi‑Fi phones, and more than 1.5 million pages annually — without a standardized, secure way to ensure messages reached the right person or to maintain an audit trail for protected health information.
They implemented Spok Mobile (building on existing Spok integrations) to provide secure texting with reliable delivery receipts, support for cellular and Wi‑Fi networks and multiple device types, and integration with the Spok staff directory. A 175‑physician pilot produced immediate improvements in communication processes, physician satisfaction and message security; Froedtert has since expanded the rollout across its health network and is planning broader adoption and additional Spok solutions.
