Franciscan St. Anthony Health — Michigan City, part of the 13-hospital Franciscan Alliance serving southwest Michigan and northwest Indiana, faced slow, manual emergency notifications for code STEMIs: unit clerks had to page multiple departments individually, could not confirm delivery, and often needed follow-up calls, delaying response times.
The hospital implemented Spok e.Notify to send simultaneous alerts, provide delivery/audit trails, and support diverse mobile devices. The automated process cut code initiation from about 3.5 minutes to under 2 minutes, improved response times and message assurance, freed unit clerks for other tasks, contributed to faster door-to-balloon times, and helped earn an excellence award for STEMI response.
