Children’s Hospital Colorado, a nationally ranked pediatric healthcare network, was rapidly expanding its regional “Network of Care” locations and constructing a major hospital addition. To preserve its patient- and family-centered focus the organization set a goal to become a “silent” hospital—reducing noisy overhead announcements, alarms and alerts—and needed a more reliable, flexible communications strategy to improve on-call scheduling, paging coverage and staff efficiency.
The hospital partnered with Spok to deploy integrated paging, emergency notification, on-call scheduling, nurse-call and code alerts, a web directory and secure mobile texting. The solution improved paging reliability and response times, enabled discreet mobile communication, reduced legacy systems and device burden (lowering operational costs), and delivered a quieter environment that enhanced patient care and satisfaction.
