PostModern, a German postal service provider based in Dresden, faced growing shipment volumes that increased the number of unassignable consignments requiring video coding. Because unreadable or ambiguous addresses could not be sorted automatically, the company needed a reliable way to process these shipments quickly during ongoing sorting operations. Spectos GmbH took over the video coding process as an external service provider, using remote access to PostModern’s sorting system to decode and correct shipment data in real time. The solution enabled minute-fast processing of non-readable mail, helped maintain stable transit times and high delivery quality, and gave PostModern greater flexibility and cost savings through unit-based payment instead of permanent staff. The service now codes around 200,000 shipments per month and even freed up room space previously used for video coding.
