Case Study: Carrefour automates design token versioning with Specify

A Specify Case Study

How Carrefour automatically versions tokens from design to code

Carrefour, a major retail group, faced a significant challenge in keeping their design tokens synchronized between their design and engineering teams. With around 60 designers and 50 developers using their design system, manual communication led to errors and out-of-sync tokens, creating a slow and error-prone process. This disconnect hindered the efficiency of their design system adoption.

Using Specify, Carrefour automated the syncing of tokens and assets from Figma to code. The solution generated NPM packages for tokens, icons, and images via the Specify CLI, which were then automatically versioned and deployed. This implementation by Specify brought the teams confidence and alignment, drastically improved velocity, and freed up QA time for more valuable tasks. The team now updates its design language rapidly and with ease of mind.
