UserTesting Uses Coaching to Support Leadership Development

UserTesting, a San Francisco-based software company offering a Human Insights Platform, needed to invest in its leaders to improve employee retention and satisfaction as the company scaled. To build a scalable, data-driven leadership development program, UserTesting partnered with Sounding Board to deliver personalized executive coaching using Sounding Board’s automated coach-matching and technical coaching platform.

Sounding Board paired leaders with coaches for twice-monthly sessions over six months, starting with engineering and product leadership to build advocacy and momentum; the program then expanded to leaders at all levels. The initiative delivered strong results: a 97% overall satisfaction rate, 91% average coach satisfaction after the first session, 93% saying coaching was off to a good start, an NPS of 87, and 20% of leaders continuing coaching beyond the initial engagement—alongside reported gains in self-awareness, strategic thinking, collaboration and other leadership capabilities.
