Starwood Hotels and Resorts partnered with travel-marketing platform Sojern to boost direct bookings to six European "soft" cities that were underperforming due to seasonal and other variances. The three-month brief aimed to deliver bookings to those cities at a €3:1 ROI while minimizing spillage (targeting 35% of EMEA bookings to the six cities).
Sojern ran targeted display campaigns and continuously optimized by monitoring the best-performing origin markets and audiences searching specific destinations. The campaign drove €127,000 in direct bookings, exceeded the €3:1 ROI goal in five of six markets (up to €10:1), achieved €2.6:1 in the sixth, and directed about half of the campaign’s bookings to the target cities—surpassing spillage and ROI targets.
