How A Relationship with Smartling Helped Yext Translate 12 Million Words to Support Teams Around the World

Yext helps businesses put more official answers online across websites, search engines, voice assistants and 175+ platforms. As Yext expanded internationally, translating everything from product and help sites to sales decks and webinars became critical—but the largely manual process couldn't scale. Translation volume ballooned (over 12 million words since 2014) and a 2018 launch in Japan exposed brand- and culture-specific localization challenges with just one in-market marketer.

Working with Smartling, Yext centralized translation in a cloud TMS with WordPress and code-repo integrations, improved workflows, and updated the style guide and glossary. Direct collaboration with Smartling’s translators and use of visual context cut ambiguity and rework: Japanese correction rates fell to 0.17% and edited words dropped 87.9% (2018–2020), while translation memory reduced effective cost per word by 25%, enabling faster, more accurate launches into many new markets.
