SmartBear TestComplete Helps WingArc1st Reduce Regression Testing Time from More Than a Month to a Just a Few Days

WingArc1st is a Japan-based business intelligence software company that develops Dr.Sum EA, a tool for enterprise reporting and analytics. Facing frequent releases and a costly, time-consuming UI testing process for the original Adobe Flex web app—and later for a Delphi XE8 desktop version—the quality assurance team needed to cut development and testing costs and reduce the resource hours required for comprehensive regression testing.

Partnering with XLsoft, WingArc1st deployed SmartBear TestComplete to automate UI and regression testing, leveraging features like multi-language scripting, record/playback, name mapping, checkpoints and data-driven tests. The evaluation showed major gains: web-app regression cycles shortened (to roughly 2–3 months during the trial), and desktop testing—after an initial 45‑day test-creation effort—went from an expected three months of manual work to automated verification that completes in just a few days, improving defect detection and lowering testing resource needs.
