PlantCML Speeds Up Code Review Process with Collaborator

PlantCML, an EADS North America company and a 40-year leader in 9-1-1 emergency response and systems management, was struggling with an inefficient, paper-heavy code review process. Reviews were performed in long projector-driven meetings using CSDiff and post-meeting forms, which made it hard to capture line-level comments, track defects, or collaborate across two time zones and agile teams.

PlantCML implemented SmartBear Collaborator to centralize reviews, enable inline comments and live chat, and integrate with Perforce and their defect tracker. The tool eliminated manual paperwork and unproductive meetings, supported multiple workflows (peer vs. formal, pre- or post-check-in), and automatically tracked rework diffs. As a result, reviews moved fully online, review quality and team productivity improved, and the company expects the time savings to pay for the tool within months.
