Open Dealer Exchange - Customer Case Study

Open Dealer Exchange, a joint venture of ADP Dealer Services and The Reynolds and Reynolds Company, provides middleware that connects lenders and insurance providers directly into dealerships’ DMS systems to streamline finance and insurance transactions. As their customer base grew they built a dedicated QA team but faced the challenge of testing a pure B2B, non–user-facing Web Services platform—validating XML, encrypted responses, database interactions and overall performance without a traditional UI.

They adopted SmartBear ReadyAPI Test (plus the free SoapUI for nontechnical users) and ReadyAPI Performance to create and run functional, data-driven and load tests. Using features like Excel data sources, JDBC DB2 connections, Groovy scripting for decryption and assertions, and built-in reporting, five QA and five developers (plus eight analysts) now rapidly generate tests, validate XML and DB interactions, baseline performance, and run 2X–4X capacity tests—resulting in faster test creation, clearer reports, and greater confidence in middleware performance and scalability.
