Numara Software, maker of the Track-It! inventory/asset management and help-desk suite, faced rising complexity in its QA process: limited time and resources, poor test coverage, and a need for Delphi support—while many automation tools were prohibitively expensive. Manual testing was slow and costly, prompting the team to look for an affordable, Delphi-friendly automation solution.

Numara adopted SmartBear’s TestComplete, built a keyword-driven script authoring tool in Visual Studio, and used TestComplete’s framework and TestExecute to run and distribute tests. The automated scripts now cover about 25% of the application and run in hours instead of days; tests are executed twice monthly and on every release, freeing manual testers to focus on sensitive areas. The DelphiScript support and lower cost saved the company thousands compared with competitors.
