Laerdal Replaces Manual Testing with TestComplete

Laerdal, a global leader in basic and advanced life‑support training and treatment equipment, faced growing manual‑testing bottlenecks as their PC‑based micro‑simulators expanded across many Windows platform configurations and 14 localized languages. Releasing updates required running the same tests on 20–30 platform builds per release, making manual QA slow, error‑prone and unsustainable.

Laerdal adopted TestComplete for black‑box automation, hooking tests into their build pipeline and using TestComplete’s DLLAccess plug‑in plus a translation lookup DLL to run the same scripts across all language versions. They integrated TestComplete’s Network Suite with VMware Server via the VMware COM API to distribute and control virtual test platforms. The result: daily, repeatable automated tests across multiple platforms and locales, significantly improved coverage and throughput, and faster, more reliable releases.
