Dropbox mobile team aims for three nines of user availability with BugSnag

Dropbox, the cloud storage and collaboration platform, needed a better way to monitor mobile app health and reach its goal of three-nines user availability. Its homegrown crash reporting system had become stagnant, and a temporary move to Crashlytics still lacked key debugging features. Dropbox selected SmartBear’s BugSnag to give engineers faster visibility into crashes, help troubleshoot issues across releases, and improve product health.

SmartBear’s BugSnag was implemented company-wide in about six weeks and gave Dropbox breadcrumbs, automatic grouping, custom filtering, ANR detection, and integrations with Jira, Slack, and PagerDuty. The result was more precise crash investigation, faster fixes for classes of crashes, better alerting, and reduced time spent debugging so engineers could focus more on building features.
