Mozilla needed to ensure Firefox worked reliably across a wide range of mobile devices but struggled to scale real-device testing from its problematic in-house lab. The team required a solution that supported custom framework tests and accurate web page rendering on mobile browsers, and their existing setup caused long test cycles and bottlenecks.

By moving to SmartBear BitBar’s private cloud and using Taskcluster for scheduling, Mozilla ran automation across around a hundred hosted phones, cut full test cycles from 75 to 5 hours and real-device testing from 15 to about 2 hours, and achieved over 90% peak utilization. The change streamlined their CI/CD pipeline, delivered more consistent, self-healing test runs, and allowed Mozilla to maintain high-quality Firefox performance on Android and iOS.
