CBE Ltd, a leading Irish innovator in retail point-of-sale (PoS) technology, needed to keep its client-facing and back-office user interfaces compatible with rapidly changing PoS operating systems and hardware from other vendors. After discovering its existing UI tool (Micro Focus Silk TestPartner) would no longer be upgraded—and facing the prospect of rebuilding 1,000+ test scripts—CBE sought a long-term, flexible UI testing partner that would support both on‑premise and cloud applications.

CBE chose SmartBear TestComplete, leveraging an existing relationship with SmartBear and favourably priced licensing; SmartBear also made minor product adjustments and provided migration support. TestComplete enabled stable, maintainable automated UI tests across desktop, web and mobile (including cloud device labs), streamlined the script migration, improved defect reporting (HTML5 details and image comparison), and gave CBE a migration roadmap to avoid future rebuilds—helping ensure UIs remain compatible with current and future PoS technologies.
