Advanced EPCON Dual Compact Flotation Unit Improves Produced Water Treatment by 27%

Statoil needed a way to improve separation of oil from produced water while minimizing footprint and maintaining high capacity, especially for offshore operations facing stricter disposal regulations. SLB addressed this challenge with the EPCON Dual compact flotation unit (CFU).

SLB implemented the compartmentalized EPCON Dual CFU to improve oil removal and degassing in a smaller footprint, using residual flotation gas for secondary separation. In field trials on a Statoil installation in the North Sea, SLB achieved 27% better separation rates than conventional compact flotation units, with minimal maintenance, optimal uptime, and a 50% smaller footprint.
