Ocado Group, a global technology and automation business that builds e-commerce, fulfilment and logistics platforms, needed to remove the limits of physical offices and support distributed teams, partners and customers across time zones while managing hundreds of concurrent projects. The challenge was to create intuitive, asynchronous workflows and secure external collaboration that kept teams agile and aligned as the company scaled.
Ocado adopted Slack Enterprise Grid and built a digital HQ using channels, Slack Clips, Workflow Builder and integrations with Jira, PagerDuty and Google Drive, plus Slack Connect for external partners and 50 internal Slack champions to drive adoption. The result: hour-long meetings shortened to five-minute asynchronous updates, automated triage and project updates flowing into channel-specific threads, faster product iteration, improved transparency and cross-organisational collaboration — earning Ocado Slack’s Digital HQ Excellence Award (UK).
