A Slack Case Study
Kiva is a global nonprofit that helps individuals and entrepreneurs access life-changing microloans, but as it grew across offices, remote teams, and a large partner network, email and one-off chat tools could no longer keep collaboration efficient. Kiva turned to Slack as its digital HQ to connect teams working on loan approvals, engineering, marketing, and global lender communications.
With Slack, Kiva streamlined cross-functional work through shared channels, huddles, and integrations, making it easier to launch campaigns, coordinate complex projects, and keep loan funding moving quickly. The impact has been significant: Kiva now authorizes about 200,000 microloans per year, has funded more than $1.7 billion in loans to over 4.5 million borrowers, and uses Slack to help loans get funded before they expire.
