Working Through the Pandemic: Airport Implementation While Working From Home

Major West Coast Airport faced a sudden challenge when the COVID-19 “shelter in place” order forced SITA’s onsite team to return home mid‑deployment. SITA was in the midst of delivering its airport platform, SITA Flex, with a tight deadline to install and configure workstations across the airport when travel restrictions and staff displacement threatened the project.

SITA adapted by remoting into the project, using Microsoft Teams to train and guide local support staff and remotely deliver and test 31 workstations (23 check‑in counters, seven curbside check‑ins and four baggage service operations units). The remote implementation was completed on time, demonstrating SITA’s ability to deliver SITA Flex under crisis conditions and providing a repeatable, streamlined remote deployment approach for future projects.
