A SITA Case Study

Preview of the United Nations Case Study

United Nations - Customer Case Study

The United Nations is tackling the enormous task of achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals — in particular SDG13 on Climate Action — by turning complex climate science into practical policies and mobilizing partners to cut greenhouse gas emissions. SITA, through its Planet+ program and commitment to CarbonNeutral® certification, engaged with this agenda by defining, measuring and reducing emissions across its operations and business travel.

SITA implemented the Planet+ program to quantify and reduce scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, paired reduction efforts with carbon offsetting initiatives aligned to the SDGs, and accelerated its timeline to become a certified CarbonNeutral® company in 2021 — a full year ahead of target. Those actions produced significant emissions reductions in 2020 and earned recognition from United Nations headquarters, providing a measurable, replicable example for other organizations pursuing SDG13.
