Case Study: Munich Airport achieves seamless, scalable check-in and boarding with SITA's AirportConnect Open

A SITA Case Study

Preview of the Munich Airport Case Study

Smooth Check-in and Boarding During Rapid Growth

Munich Airport’s Terminal 2 — including a new midfield satellite that expanded capacity to more than 50 million passengers a year — needed a rapid, risk-free transfer from the incumbent IT provider and fast implementation to support growing check‑in and boarding demand. SITA won the assignment in December 2013 and was charged with delivering AirportConnect® Open and full live operations on a tight timeline while maintaining business continuity.

SITA implemented its AirportConnect Open platform across 630 workstations and 156 self‑boarding gates, providing integrated CUTE/CUPPS/CUSS services and dedicated on‑site support. The solution delivered seamless passenger processing for about 28 million passengers in 2016, increased service availability, a substantial reduction in incident volumes with no SLA infringements, and sustained high operational performance even after adding the Terminal 2 satellite.
