A SITA Case Study
SITA India, the Indian division of the global aviation IT provider SITA, faced the significant challenge of supporting its 500 employees during a devastating second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The crisis overwhelmed local healthcare infrastructure, leaving employees and their families struggling to secure hospital beds, oxygen, medicine, and accurate information. With 78 employee cases and one tragic loss, the urgent need was to provide immediate medical support and reliable resources to a workforce, half of whom were essential frontline staff at airports across the country.
The vendor, SITA, implemented a multi-faceted support solution named SITA CARES. This included launching a 24/7 volunteer staffed helpline that handled 50-60 requests daily to arrange medical needs, partnering with a vendor to provide free and unlimited telemedicine consultations, and hosting awareness webinars with medical experts. The results were impactful, with 50% of the Indian workforce utilizing the telemedicine service for near-immediate doctor access. The initiative provided critical, real-time support and was met with positive feedback from employees for its proactive approach to health and emotional wellbeing during the crisis.
