Case Study: Global Container Shipping Company achieves end-to-end global LAN/WAN integration and lower costs with SITA

A SITA Case Study

Preview of the Global Container Shipping Company Case Study

Reliable and cost-effective operation of complex global LAN/WAN environments

Global Container Shipping Company, which moves 5.5 million containers annually across operations in 180 countries, needed a business-driven IT transformation to raise internal service levels and simplify a fragmented, multi-technology network. SITA was engaged to address these challenges using SITA LAN Management (for IP VPN sites) to provide a single, globally consistent managed LAN/WAN solution.

SITA implemented an integrated LAN/WAN service—fully managing more than 1,000 LAN devices across 100+ cities and linking them into the customer’s IP VPN, backed by global IP VPN WAN connectivity and local support in 140+ countries. The SITA deployment standardized sites, converted CAPEX to an OPEX model, enforced SLAs with monthly reporting, and delivered measurable scale and reliability improvements (global device management, faster site roll-outs and reduced operational overhead).
