The Passport Immigration and Citizenship Agency faced rising international traveler volumes, peak-event surges, and pressure to do more with limited frontline staff while keeping borders secure. To tackle these challenges it turned to SITA’s iBorders BorderAutomation ABCKiosks to automate low‑risk traveler processing and free officers to focus on higher‑risk cases.
SITA implemented the iBorders BorderAutomation ABCKiosks to capture and verify passport and biometric data, run watch‑list checks and speed travelers through a three‑step self‑service flow; the kiosks allow multiple passengers to be processed simultaneously under a single officer and up to five kiosks to be managed from one immigration counter. The deployment improved throughput and reduced wait times while maintaining high‑accuracy face matching and risk screening, increasing processing capacity with the same number of officers and backed by SITA’s global kiosk delivery and support services.
