A SITA Case Study
Passport Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) of Jamaica needed to reduce long waits and improve security for arriving international passengers at Norman Manley (Kingston) and Sangster (Montego Bay) airports. PICA engaged SITA to introduce automated border control kiosks and supporting iBorders® services to speed and streamline immigration processing while maintaining robust identity checks.
SITA deployed 15 iBorders® BorderAutomation ABCKiosks (10 at MBJ, 5 at KIN) plus iBorders® TravelerData and IdentityAssurance for biometric, biographic and watch‑list checks and centralized monitoring. The solution cut processing time from about two minutes to under one minute and boosted throughput—at Montego Bay passenger handling rose from roughly 1,000 per hour with 34 officers to more than 1,600 with officers plus 10 kiosks—improving both arrival experience and border security.
