A SITA Case Study
Manila International Airport faced a sudden collapse of domestic and then most international flights after COVID-19 lockdowns, leaving half the airport non-operational and creating an urgent mandate to consolidate all remaining flights into a single terminal (T1). SITA, through its Command Center and service operations teams, was engaged to execute the airport’s Business Continuity Plan and deliver the terminal consolidation on an accelerated timeline.
SITA assembled a cross-regional task force of network, common‑use application, local GEO and SCC specialists, coordinating with partner Orange Business Services and using Microsoft Teams to plan and execute the change. The team completed a deployment that would normally take six to eight weeks in just 48 hours, successfully passing customer testing and moving all airlines to T1—delivering immediate cost savings on staffing and terminal overheads and creating a rapid-response blueprint for future emergencies.
