A SITA Case Study
The customer, Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans, spotlighted emerging leaders responding to the pandemic-era challenges facing aviation. Facing a sector hammered by COVID‑19, the industry needed to rethink passenger experience and accelerate digital transformation; vendor SITA stepped in with its aviation technology solutions and internal SITA NXTGEN program to drive innovation and promote mobile‑first, automated passenger journeys.
SITA worked with airlines across Sub‑Saharan Africa to promote and implement mobile‑centric automation—making the passenger’s phone the “remote” for travel—and to educate carriers on post‑pandemic customer expectations. While the case study highlights qualitative outcomes rather than hard metrics, SITA’s effort is reflected in industry leadership and recognition (including SITA’s Kabelo Kgodane being named in the Mail & Guardian 200 list) and in tangible progress toward digital, contactless passenger processes that position airlines for recovery.
