A SITA Case Study
Asian Airline needed to modernize its IT without replacing core legacy systems: the carrier required an open‑system Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), cross‑platform integration, low‑maintenance architecture, and the agility to roll out new business services quickly. To achieve this it turned to SITA and deployed SITA’s Horizon Integration Platform to link legacy reservation, departure control and host systems with new web, e‑commerce and mobile applications.
SITA implemented the Horizon Integration Platform as smart middleware and managed application development and maintenance, enabling the airline to expose legacy functionality on open platforms without changing existing hosts. The solution delivered faster time‑to‑market, reduced integration complexity and maintenance overhead, and cut overall integration costs—SITA’s platform also enabled scenarios such as IP‑enabling mainframes and eliminating certain network charges, providing a significant return on investment and removing technology constraints on the airline’s business initiatives.
