Home-Printed Boarding Pass Validation in a Self-service Airport Environment

Jetstar Airways faced long check-in queues because passengers with home-printed or mobile bar-coded boarding passes still had to validate at counters, undermining self-service efficiencies. To address this, the airline worked with SITA to deploy the Airport iValidate solution to streamline boarding pass validation in the airport environment.

SITA’s Airport iValidate enables security agents to scan and validate both paper and mobile BCBPs online against the airline’s departure control system (using the IATA BCBP standard), supporting agent workstations, handhelds and automated gates. For Jetstar Airways on selected Singapore routes this allowed passengers without checked baggage or visa requirements to bypass check-in counters, reducing queueing and security wait times, increasing operational productivity, and providing detailed reporting and passenger-flow monitoring for the airline and airport.
