General Authority of Civil Aviation - Customer Case Study

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), which manages all 26 civil airports in Saudi Arabia, needed to simplify passenger check‑in and boarding, reduce queues and tighten flight security while integrating and automating operations cost‑effectively. GACA selected SITA to provide airport IT systems — notably AirportConnect Open, MaestroDCS Local and BagManager — to meet IATA/ICAO standards and handle high seasonal demand such as Hajj.

SITA delivered a five‑year, US$16.8 million program across the four international airports (Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam and Medina), deploying departure control, common‑use check‑in and automated baggage reconciliation that ensure passenger‑to‑bag matching and flexible airline operations. The SITA solution automated check‑in, streamlined the passenger journey, reduced waiting times, tightened baggage security and improved overall airport and airline efficiency.
