A SITA Case Study
El Dorado (BOG) Bogotá International Airport, managed by OPAIN, faced an aging terminal with long queues, limited passenger access, outdated public address and flight information systems, and a large staged expansion that risked siloed, piecemeal technology delivery. Having previously implemented SITA’s CUTE and CUSS check‑in solutions, OPAIN engaged SITA as a single, proven partner to coordinate the wholesale technology transformation and modernize passenger processing across the new and existing terminals.
SITA implemented its Airport Master System Integration (MSI) and a suite of pre‑integrated technologies—including Maestro DCS Local, AirportConnect CUTE/CUSS, AirportHub, AirportVision, BagManager and SITATEX—bringing together suppliers, installing thousands of ports, displays and speakers, and providing 24/7 onsite support. Delivered on time and on budget (phase one completed in three months), the upgrade helped El Dorado reach a capacity of about 40 million passengers by 2017, achieved a mean time to repair of 18.7 minutes for CUTE services, and contributed to regional awards and measurable improvements in operational stability, passenger experience and commercial performance under SITA’s solution.
