Dublin Airport - Customer Case Study

Dublin Airport embarked on a €1.2 billion transformation to deliver Terminal 2 and meet rapidly growing passenger demand, adding capacity for up to 15 million more travellers and new US preclearance facilities. To ensure all communications, passenger, baggage and security systems were integrated and operational for opening day, Dublin Airport selected SITA as the specialist systems integrator to design and deliver the terminal’s IT infrastructure and specialist systems (communications, passenger processing, baggage management and security).

SITA implemented the master IT strategy—building LAN/Wi‑Fi/IP telephony, CCTV and access control, a baggage management system with bespoke US CBP interfaces, and a consolidated Operations Control Centre—integrating T2 into the existing campus and enabling dynamic CBP mode and common‑use services. The systems were installed, tested alongside construction and declared operational for the November 2010 opening, delivered on time and on budget, and helped expand capacity to support up to 35 million passengers per year, 25 additional boarding gates, improved passenger experience and new route opportunities.
