A SITA Case Study
Azerbaijan Airlines engaged SITA to provide technology integration and consulting for the new Terminal One at Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport, aiming to support growing passenger volumes, new long‑haul aircraft and world‑class passenger processing. SITA was asked to design and embed IT services and systems—including Passenger iCheck, AirportConnect kiosks and broader airport infrastructure management—so technology would be integral to the terminal from opening.
SITA delivered end‑to‑end consulting, master systems integration and a common network infrastructure (3,500 data ports, 100 wireless access points, 500 VoIP handsets), plus AirportConnect Open (66 shared workstations), 12 CUSS kiosks with Passenger iCheck, BagManager with 20 handhelds, 147 multilingual flight‑info screens and WorldTracer kiosks. The result for Azerbaijan Airlines is a modern international terminal that handles long‑haul carriers, speeds passenger processing, improves baggage operations and passenger information, and is backed by a five‑year SITA support contract—laying the foundation to accommodate the airport’s projected growth.
