A SITA Case Study
Asian Airline Company, which had been running its own in‑house reservations and departure control system, relied on two providers for Type B messaging (SITA handling about 60% and a competitor about 40%). When the airline decided to retire its in‑house system and migrate to a competing RES/DCS provider, it faced the challenge of securing the most cost‑effective, end‑to‑end delivery of Type B traffic and ensuring any bundled offer from the new RES/DCS partner would not leave gaps or hidden costs.
SITA ran a two‑day workshop to demonstrate the competitor’s limitations and proposed a solution with SITA as the primary Type B messaging provider, including SITATEX Online, SMTP Relay and detailed reporting and consultancy during planning, migration and post‑migration. The SITA solution delivered the majority of the airline’s traffic, removed the need for multiple additional providers, improved transparency and operational control, reduced complexity and produced significant cost savings for the airline.
