Case Study: Bristol Airport achieves 80% faster left-luggage processing and improved passenger experience with SITA

A SITA Case Study

Preview of the Bristol Airport Case Study

Bristol Airport mobile technology helps deliver airport services

Bristol Airport, the fifth largest airport in the UK outside London serving over seven million people, faced slow, paper-based left-luggage processes that accepted only cash and added delays to optional services like Fast Track. Seeking a mobile backup for self-service kiosks and faster payment options, the airport worked with SITA’s Wireless and Mobility team to modernize its passenger services.

SITA deployed an integrated mobile solution using SITA Managed Mobile Devices (MMD) on Motorola MC75A terminals with DCR Chip and Pin readers and Zebra Bluetooth printers to enable credit-card payments anywhere and digitize paperwork. The change cut left-luggage processing from 10 minutes to 2 minutes per bag (about 160 hours saved per FTE annually), improved customer experience, and generated strong positive feedback, demonstrating SITA’s measurable impact on efficiency and service.
