Air Malta faced an aging Avaya IPT system, constrained IT resources and gaps in unified communications (no presence/chat or email integration) that were hindering productivity and a new knowledge-management strategy. To modernize its infrastructure and support future growth, Air Malta engaged SITA to deliver managed communications through SITA Airline Infrastructure Management and the SITA ATI Cloud.
SITA implemented an IPT refresh, integrated 500+ IP phones and unified communications with Microsoft Exchange and Lync, virtualized the local data center via VMware, and outsourced campus LAN/WiFi, service desk and hardware management under a multi‑year contract. The SITA solution centralized 500+ virtualized workstations, reduced network complexity, improved availability and collaboration, and delivered about 30% cost savings with ROI paid back in two years, plus a single SLA and lower licensing and operational costs.
