A Smaller Airport That’s Thinking Big

T.F. Green Airport faced the challenge of attracting international carriers without the large upfront capital investment typically required for common-use terminal systems. SITA offered a scalable, cloud-hosted common-use solution—AirportConnect® Open paired with AirportHub™ connectivity—delivered as a pay-as-you-go service to let a smaller regional airport operate like a larger hub without heavy infrastructure costs.

SITA implemented its cloud-based CUPPS and shared connectivity platform, enabling airlines to use any gate, desk or kiosk and simplifying airline onboarding. Within a year T.F. Green added a back-office workstation, grew check-in positions from six to ten and increased gates from two to three; TACV, Condor and Azores Airlines began service, and the airport gained new revenue from passengers, concessions, parking and duty-free sales. SITA’s flexible model gave carriers pricing control and the airport the ability to scale quickly as demand grew.
