MVMT used social and mobile selling to grow a $60 million watch empire

MVMT, founded by Jake Kassan and Kramer LaPlante, built a direct-to-consumer watch brand but faced a crowded market and a sudden shift to mobile and social traffic that hurt conversions. As a Shopify Plus merchant (migrating from Magento), MVMT needed a mobile-first, low-friction checkout experience to reduce abandoned carts and shorten the path to purchase.

Using the Shopify Plus platform, MVMT implemented a responsive storefront, deployed 30+ apps from Shopify’s ecosystem, and launched a native Facebook Shop to let customers buy without leaving social networks. The results: mobile conversion rates more than doubled, the Facebook Shop drove 60,000 visits and $15,000 in its first three months and roughly $150,000 over the year, and MVMT scaled to $60 million in three years while positioning to exceed $100 million in 2018 — all enabled by Shopify Plus.
