Magnolia, the home‑furnishing retailer behind Magnolia Market and the Silos in Waco, faced the challenge of translating its highly tactile, pilgrimage‑style in‑store experience to a global online audience. To scale ecommerce while preserving its brand experience, Magnolia built its online operation on Shopify Plus.
Partnering with Shopify’s AR team (using Apple’s ARKit), Magnolia created an augmented‑reality app that renders photo‑realistic 3D products so shoppers can place items in their own homes; all AR‑guided purchases are processed through Shopify Plus. The result was strikingly lifelike product visualizations that bridge the gap between in‑person and online shopping, preserve Magnolia’s brand experience across channels, and extend the retailer’s reach to customers who cannot visit Waco.
