Rebecca Minkoff, the fashion brand known for tech-forward retail experiments, faced a classic ecommerce challenge: how to bring products—especially handbags—to life online so shoppers could better judge quality, size, and texture. Working with Shopify Plus, the company set out to test 3D modeling and augmented reality (AR) on product pages to close the gap between in‑store touch and online browsing.
Using Shopify Plus’s 3D and AR capabilities, Rebecca Minkoff added interactive models and AR views for more than 50 items (including the Darren shoulder bag), letting shoppers rotate products and place them in their environment via mobile. The results were significant: shoppers who engaged with 3D were 44% more likely to add an item to cart and 27% more likely to order, and visitors who used AR were 65% more likely to purchase—demonstrating a clear uplift in conversions and revenue after implementing Shopify Plus’s solution.
