India's Largest Passenger Car Company — a manufacturer with more than 50% of the domestic car market and roughly 40,000 employees — needed to modernize hiring for roles like service advisors, technicians and bodyshop staff. Facing a competitive talent market, they wanted to move from pen-and-paper tests to an online, scalable process that appealed to tech-savvy candidates, sped up hiring, and prevented misrepresentation. SHL was engaged to provide role-specific online assessments paired with automated proctoring and end-to-end test delivery.
SHL delivered tailored test batteries (technical skills, situational judgement, numerical, language and personality) in multiple regional languages, supplied infrastructure and devices, and used automated proctoring (webcam monitoring, browser-focus control, geo-tracking and print-screen locks) with human proctors as needed. The solution doubled candidate reach, improved the candidate experience through shorter, localized tests, and established a highly reliable, fraud-resistant hiring process — enabling the client to identify better-qualified talent at scale thanks to SHL’s platform.
