A SHL Case Study
GKN Aerospace, a global supplier of airframe and engine structures, landing gear, electrical interconnection systems, transparencies, and aftermarket services, wanted a new and more effective way to prepare leaders for transition into their next roles. The goal was to create a consistent, positive, and meaningful development experience for every leader, while clearly linking participation to individual growth. SHL supported this need with leadership development centers and assessment tools.
SHL implemented a blended solution using SHL’s OPQ32 personality assessment, a GKN Aerospace custom report, and a two-day development center with virtual and in-person activities such as case studies, group exercises, interviews, role plays, coaching, and development workshops. The program gave leaders real-time feedback and coaching, improved self-awareness, and provided GKN Aerospace with a robust view of its leadership population against company culture and leadership behaviors. The results were highly positive, with participants giving fantastic reviews, and SHL continued refining the center after each cohort to strengthen the final product.
